A short Biography
Born in Austria in 1971, I was raised in a traditional family with a strong focus on entrepreneurship. From early on I felt a deep connection to nature as well as to the world of literature. Both are still strong to this day.
In one form or the other, I was always running and/or owning businesses.
Still, money was never my focus in life.
I learned many crafts and held many jobs.
My sense for graphics, design, colours and proportions has its roots in my work in pre-press and graphical design. From there it was only a small step to photography. I combined my fascination with hand-made knives and swords with photography and became one of the foremost photographers in this area in the early 2000’s.
For 20 years, I published the most successful photographic calendar of handmade knives along with two books on the subject.
I also made the occasional knife myself and was a collector of handmade knives and swords for many years.
My love for nature and solitude was partly responsible for my decision to emigrate to Venezuela, where I had a plantation for citric fruits for over 10 years. I lived on the edge of the jungle for several years. Many forays into the wilderness shaped my view of nature and our place in it. I learned a lot from the people of this remote valley. Their lessons still serve me well.
After many jobs, I can truly say, that my vocational calling is teaching – more about that in the section „Teacher“.
Hand in hand with teaching is the semination of knowledge via the written word.
This is where my side as an author comes into play – more in the section „Author“.
My fascination with the middle ages is responsible for me taking up the sword – have a look under „Swordsman“.
One of my most life-changing strokes of luck was gaining the love of my wonderful wife, Birgit.
I can honestly say that I have managed to fulfil all my dreams in life.
Most important, I have always worked on myself and will continue to do so.
Because the most important work is the work on one's self.
